ufc 140 jon jones vs machida video

I think UFC 140 was in one of the most unforgettable fight cards within UFC history. 14 out of 12 fights were exciting as well as the Frank Mir - Nogueira struggle had historical significance. As with ever MMA event there are champions and there are losers. Let's take a look at that had the best as well as worst performances for the night. I'll possess additional thoughts too regarding some combats after the jump.

WINNERS

Jon Jones - Truly the most obvious choice. Smith is having a career calendar year and has firmly established himself as the top light heavyweight on the planet. After the fights, Dana White thought out loud concerning who could possibly defeat his champion. The actual choke was cunning and seeing Machida messed up up unconscious was an eerie sight. Jones will be the champ until he's too large for the weight type. Heavyweights have been put on observe.

Frank Mir - Being the first man to knock Nogueira out has become a accomplishment. Being the first man to publish Nogueira was unheard of. This evening Frank Mir became that man. In order to make the Brazilian tap, Mir had been forced to break Nogueira's supply with a kimura. Huge acquire and could open up an enormous opportunity soon.

Chan Sang Jung - Officially tied for fasted knockout within UFC history. The win will clearly propel Jung up the featherweight search rankings. Maybe a fight using Hatsu Hioki or Michihiro Omigawa? Both have divisional significance. Jung is still instinctual but he just revealed he has real energy in his hands.

Modest UFC Bantamweights - Dana White official announced the actual flyweight division at the post-fight media conference. There will be any four man competition to crown a champion. This means that small guys in the section can fight at their natural weight type. Huge night for that little guys.
Up-to-the-fight UFC 140 results include:

  • Chan Sung Jung def. Mark Hominick via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 0:07
  • Igor Pokrajac def. Krzysztof Soszynski via knockout (punches) - Round 1, 0:35

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem Official for December 30

Overeem was released by
Overeem, who had an exclusive interview with FightersOnly, spoke about the opportunity to face Lesnar and said he immediately turned down a title shot in order to face him.
"A couple of names came up and Brock Lesnar was one of them. I liked the match, he liked the match and so we signed it," Overeem said.
Lesnar has not competed inside the Octagon since last year when he lost the heavyweight crown to Cain Velasquez at UFC 122. Since then he has been out of action suffering from his second encounter with diverticulitis.
Meanwhile, Overeem's contract negotiations with the UFC have been well-documented since his sudden departure from Strikeforce, but the K-1 champion was quiet regarding his new deal. However, he did break his silence on his opponent and he said he isn't concerned with what Lesnar brings to their bout.
