According to the Associated Press, Libyan rebels who have overrun Gadhafi’s compound in Tripoli have found a photo book that prominently features the former top American diplomat. The collection of photos looks like one a pre-teen girl might have compiled with Justin Bieber pictures of Rice at the podium and meeting with foreign dignitaries.Libyan rebels also discovered in the compound is a photo album of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. As MSNBC reports, Rice visited Tripoli in 2008. She and Qaddafi ate dinner during a brief time where Qaddafi was being welcomed back into the international community.
And in a 2007 interview with al-Jazeera, “Leezza, Leezza, Leezza ... I love her very much,” he said.
When the two finally met a year later, in his famed tent that was set up inside the very compound now being ransacked and where the photo book was found, he reportedly gave her a diamond ring and a locket with his image etched inside.
Maybe Rice was smart to stand so far away from the Libyan leader in this photo taken during her historic visit to Tripoli.
